Courses for Nuclear Medicine Technologists:
Nuclear Medicine Review/Update


  • Purpose:
    The purpose of the program is to provide a compact review and update of the science principles involved in Nuclear Medicine Technology. In order to comprehend the rationale behind Nuclear Medicine's rapidly changing technology, one often wishes a second understanding of "the basics".

    This program serves several purposes:

    • IT SERVES AS the minimum of fifteen (15) contact hours of coursework in each of the following areas: radiopharmacy, nuclear medicine instrumentation and radiation safety, FOR THE INDIVIDUAL PREPARING TO TAKE THE BOARD EXAMINATION BY THE NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATION BOARD (NMTCB). This course fulfills the required contact hours for Alternate Eligibility and PET applicants by the NMTCB. It is not intended to be an all encompassing course in preparation for the board. More in depth preparation will be needed through other resources.
    • It has proven useful to those student Nuclear Medicine Technologists who are preparing for other registry or licensing examinations.
    • It has proven useful to those individuals who are in an ADMINISTRATIVE CAPACITY and need a comprehensive understanding or overview of a nuclear medicine program.
    • A total review and update by the experienced nuclear medicine technologists who wishes to be brought up-to-date in their chosen profession.
    • Recognized for 45 hour Category A credit by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

  • Conducted by:
    Associates in Medical Physics consultants and noted industry experts who include Paul Early, co-author "Principles & Practice of Nuclear Medicine".

  • Accreditation
    The Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Section (SNMTS), through its Verification of Involvement In Continuing Education (VOICE) program, approves courses for continuing education hours (CEHs). VOICE-approved credit is recognized by most licensure states and by the ARRT (as Category A credit). VOICE credit has been approved and each participant successfully completing this activity can achieve up to 33.75
    CEH(s).
